2) Zoning

 

Figure 5.5-2 illustrates the zoning after considering the region and prefecture unit classifications usually applied in Thailand. Areas where the Northern Line service is available for people are also considered to make zoning.

 

3) Population frame

 

Based on the population forecast by different prefectures made by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the population frame for individual zones is set up.

 

4) Transport volume and service level of the road system

 

The road system has passenger cars, route buses, and sightseeing buses as transport means. However, the actual transport volumes performances by OD of these types of transport means cannot be classified into different items when seeing from statistical view point. Thus, the route bus transport means is represented as the road system because the route bus has a relatively large transport volume, and the service level data are also more clear compared to the other types of road transport means.

 

5) Transport conditions of different traffic means

 

In order to grasp the effects from direct increase in demand to be caused by transport time reduction, the present conditions are applied to the transport conditions in the forecast year. Accordingly, possible new route operation service expected by the forecast year are not considered. Service levels (time required for transport, fare, charge, etc.) are also set to the present conditions, except for the transport time required for the New Sprinter.

 

6) Data adopted (transport volume)

 

The following sources of transport data are used to represent the present transport volumes by OD.
